Darlington Raceway: A Fan Favorite Featured by Trimble Geospatial

Some projects are fan favorites, and this one is one of ours too. In late August and early September, Trimble Geospatial featured Abraham Land Surveying’s work at Darlington Raceway, first as a “Throwback Thursday” post and then again with a video of the track.

Our team was contracted to scan Darlington Raceway in precise detail so that SAFER barriers could be designed, fabricated and installed to exact specs. Using a Trimble SX12 scanning total station, we captured the track and processed the data in Trimble Business Center to create a 3D model. That model allowed the barriers to be fabricated offsite. When they were installed, they fit perfectly.

Darlington is one of South Carolina’s most famous landmarks, and we’re proud our 3D scanning work helped make it safer for drivers. Projects like this show what high-precision LiDAR and scanning can do. You can measure and design with confidence before anything is built, which saves time and avoids costly surprises in the field.

Whether you’re planning a renovation, an as-built survey or a complex fabrication, our scanning team can help.
